Privacy policy

Plain-language summary first, formal detail below. Effective 22 July 2026.

Last updated: 22 July 2026

In one paragraph

We collect the minimum information needed to run Openclaim: an email to sign you in, the details of the dispute you describe, and — only if you choose to be verified for a case — your contact and identity information. We never sell or rent your data. Your identity stays hidden from other members and from law firms until you explicitly consent to share it with a specific engaged firm. You can export or delete your data at any time.

Who is responsible

Openclaim ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data processed on this platform. You can reach us at privacy@openclaim.cc.

What we collect

Account data (email, preferred language, currency). Dispute data (your description, category, respondent, financial impact — as you enter it). Verification data (name, country, phone, postal address) — only if you choose to be verified for a specific case. Technical data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) needed to operate the service securely.

Why we process it

To provide the service (matching you with others, showing your case to verified firms), to communicate with you about your disputes, to keep the platform safe from abuse, and to meet legal obligations. Our lawful bases under the GDPR are contract, legitimate interest (safety, service quality), consent (where you actively opt in), and legal obligation.

Who we share it with

Other members: only your public activity within a dispute, never your identity. Law firms: only the members who have explicitly consented to share their verified details for a specific case. Service providers: hosting, email delivery, analytics — under strict data-processing agreements. Authorities: only when required by law. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. Dispute content may remain visible to a case even if you leave, so the group can continue. On deletion, personal identifiers are removed within 30 days; anonymized aggregate data may be kept for statistics.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection to processing. Withdraw consent at any time. Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Email privacy@openclaim.cc and we'll act within 30 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language and currency preferences. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking cookies.

International transfers

Data is primarily processed within the European Union. Where a processor is outside the EU, we use European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes to this policy

We'll post material changes on this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
